What is difference between normal and tatkal passport ?

Ans : Following are the difference between normal and tatkal passport :

In normal passport it takes usually 30 days. Tatkal passport takes 2-3 days time.

Normal passport fees is Rs.1500 for adult and Rs. 1000 for minor. Tatkal passport fees is Rs. 3500 for for adult and Rs. 3000 for minor.

In normal passport police verification takes place before issue of passport. In tatkal passport police verification takes place after issuance of passport.

I have lost my passport. I am in urgent need of passport. Can I apply for duplicate passport under tatkal passport category ?

Ans : As per rule `duplicate passport can not be applied under tatkal passport category.

Tatkal passport renewal

Tatkal passport renewal can be done if the validity of the passport has been expired or its about to expire and one needs it on urgent basis . A passport can be renewed within 1 year of the expiry of the passport..

For Tatkal passport renewal applicant should have valid current address . If passport validity expired more than one year before, document required will be same as in the case of new Tatkal passport.
